The Floating Grave

The Floating Grave
In the river so old
Swept by the tide
A truth to be told
Hides from the light
She was standing
In the creek
To her knees
In water deep
A motionless figure
In the murky stream
Staring at her fate
When last she was seen
And the river still runs cold
Quiet and dignified
A secret it still withholds
But myth won’t subside
As the narrative unfolds
Unravelling part by part
A shape of truth it molds
Vague in the dark
Who was the shadow
By her side
Standing silent
As her guide
His face, a canvas empty
Above the water's flow
The hidden bond between them
Only they could know
Drown in my embrace
Take leave one last time
Fading, your shape in the current
Disappears from this world
Whirling, sinking, deeper and deeper
Down into a floating grave
And the river still runs cold
To no one it will confide
The secret it still withholds
Of where she resides
Will we ever comprehend?
Why did she depart?
Are we forever meant
To be in the dark?

Beyond The Bounds Of Sleep
Fears like vultures circle. Hands cold and raw
Crawling upwards on my spine
Locked away with myself, scorn in the looking glass
My mirror companion makes me retch, makes me choke
And my sleep is bleak and torn
Writhed til the crack of dawn
How I seek for rest to come
Utter oblivion
And I weep for all that's born
Destined to lapse and mourn
The misery-inflicting self
Haunts my afflicted shell
And the sheets are falling down
Tearclad unto the ground
As my blood runs in reverse
This wretched life I curse
Roaming paths across the fields
Crows are cawing in the wind
Lying dazed here at the edge of night
Emerging exit dreams beset the mind
Still my sleep is bleak and torn
Writhe til the crack of dawn
How I seek for rest to come
Utter oblivion
Night engulf me
Become as one with my gloom
Devour this abject nonentity
No awakening at morn
No anguish ever reborn
Finally I exceed
The boundaries of mundane sleep
